UBC ELI’s Doctors without Borders Fundraiser to fight against Ebola
In this episode of Fiction Frenzy TV, Anne-Rae and her developmental editor Josefina, participated in a book signing event at the UBC English Language Institute’s Fair Fair Fundraiser. The event was to help raise awareness and funds for Doctors without Borders / Medecins Sans Frontieres campaign to help Ebola victims and eradicate the disease.
Sylvia Ozbalt, Head Instructor Short Programs, organized the event with other instructors and students. Vendor tables were placed in three rooms and along the hall ways of the English Language Institute so that visitors could wander and peruse the eclectic goods such as hand made jewelry, baked goods, books, snow gear, sports equipment and more.
Instructor Joy Lin Salzberg and her class held an auction for creative items such as Italian and Spanish lessons by her students, a fly eating plant, movie tickets and snow boots. The auction alone raised $375.
The event raised a total of $1600 for the cause.
